Spr\u00e5kniv\u00e5er<\/h1>\n

Vi f\u00f6ljer niv\u00e5erna fr\u00e5n the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, Learning, Teaching and Assessment (CEFR), vilka g\u00e5r fr\u00e5n A1 (fullst\u00e4ndig nyb\u00f6rjare) till C2 (mycket avancerad). UISS undervisar \u00e4ven i niv\u00e5 A2+, B1+ och B2+. Vi har minst en klass per niv\u00e5.<\/p>\n

Oberoende av period kommer det alltid att finnas mellan 90 och 115 elever i programmet vid samma tidpunkt. Detta stora antal m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r f\u00f6r UISS att f\u00f6rdela klasserna till den grad att studenterna kan undervisas p\u00e5 relativt homogena kursniv\u00e5er. \u00c4ven uppdelning inom niv\u00e5erna \u00e4r m\u00f6jligt.<\/p>\n

Spanning the best part of the last millennium, it provides a comprehensive overview of the art historical development of the country from the Middle Ages to the present. Through visits to historically interesting sites and museums, the students get the chance to see the result of Swedish artistic production from different epochs. These visits are complemented by lectures and seminars, accompanied by slides. Thus the student will get a more theoretical view on art, as well as preparation for, and analysis of the various fieldtrips. Swedish art and architecture are compared to international equivalents. In addition, the course aims to link the development of Swedish art history to the development of society as a whole. The idea is to see art and architecture as integrated in society and not as anything isolated. History and society serve as a backdrop to the artistic expressions of different eras. Hence, this course asks the question \u201cwhy?\u201d as well as the questions \u201cwhat?\u201d and \u201cwhen?\u201d<\/p>\n

The location of Uppsala is ideal. In and around town are many historical sites from different times and its proximity to Stockholm provides the possibility to visit numerous culturally significant sites in the capital.<\/p>\n

A course designed to introduce international students to how history was, and is, presented in Sweden, a Swedish history from a Swedish perspective. Classes will provide structure as well as facts, and general\u00a0\u00a0historical narratives. The constitution and development of Swedish identity, self perception, are topics incorporated into lectures and discussions. The method and purpose of the class is to ”remember by understanding”. Students are exposed to a series of summaries, rather than chronologically organized data. Lectures alternate with fieldtrips, with a focus on the immediate Uppsala region. The time span covered during the four weeks of class stretches from the end of the Scandinavian Ice Age (12 – 10.000 B.C.) to the development of the ”Folkhem”, the foundation of the Swedish Welfare State.<\/p>\n

Nordic Mythology, the Development of Prehistoric research, Sweden’s years as a great power and the Post-War era are among the historic segments and phenomena which are highlighted during the four weeks of lectures. Reading material is provided in class.<\/p>\n

Scandinavian crime fiction is widely popular throughout the world, and it is curious that the Nordic countries, which have relatively low-crime rates, produce such provocative page-turning material. Representations of crime, detective work, courtroom processes, and punishment in any given culture says a great deal about the values of the society portrayed. Indeed, with successful series like \u201cThe Girl with the Dragon Tattoo\u201d trilogy and the Wallander mysteries, Scandinavian crime fiction is as suspenseful and thrilling as it is critical of society.
